Mayor's Youth Leadership Council
The La Vista Youth Leadership Council, an initiative of Mayor Douglas Kindig, is an exciting new program designed to encourage middle and high school students to become active in the community by participating in local government.

Youth members on the Council will attend City Council meetings, and board and commission meetings where they will get to see the community decision-making process in action and offer a youth perspective on local government issues. They will also participate in community events, hopefully fostering a sense of civic participation and volunteerism.

In addition to the interaction with Mayor Kindig and other elected officials, the Youth Leadership Council will be led by Police Officers Jamie Brown and Nick Jeanette, offering students an opportunity to create relationships with law enforcement officers and other City staff.
