Craig Johnson, the best-selling author of the “Longmire” mystery series, is coming to Sarpy County in August 2018.

Johnson will make an author appearance on Friday, Aug. 17, at the Beardmore Event Center in Bellevue in a program sponsored by the five public libraries in Sarpy County — Bellevue Public Library, Gretna Public Library, La Vista Public Library, Sump Memorial Library in Papillion and Springfield Memorial Library.

The evening will begin with a Meet-and-Greet session with the author at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for this 90-minute event will be $45 and will be limited to 70 persons (limit 2 tickets per person). This special session will include conversational time with Johnson, beverages and hors d'oeuvres, as well as reserved seating for his program later that evening. Tickets will be available from the sponsoring libraries starting June 1.

At 7 p.m. Johnson will give a program in the main event center which will be free and open to the public. However, those planning to attend the open session will need to claim their tickets in advance at one of the five Sarpy County public libraries, also starting June 1. The public will be limited to 2 tickets per person on a first-come, first-served basis. A time for book signing will follow.

Since publishing his first novel in the award-winning Walt Longmire series in 2004, Johnson has gone on to write 14 other novels and three books of stories. The latest in the series featuring Longmire as a Wyoming sheriff is “Depth of Winter,” which will be published in September 2018. Johnson’s books are also the basis of the “Longmire” cable television series starring Robert Taylor, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Katee Sackoff. Johnson lives in Ucross, Wyoming, population 25.
