- The construction plans for the Thompson Creek stream bank stabilization work are at the 90% complete stage. Before the plans can be finalized we need to agree on utility relocation plans with OPPD, COX and Century Link that have facilities located on the poles along the creek. We are continuing to have meetings with OPPD to work out details on this relocation work.
- A joint meeting with the funding agencies for the project was held in late November. At present the estimated total project costs exceed the expected availability of funds from these agencies. The consultant team is reviewing the cost estimates and trying to identify options to close the gap between costs and available funds.
- The City is continuing to work with the Papillion-La Vista School District and UNO on various public education and outreach activities. At this time there are four informational brochures nearing completion that will be available after January 1, 2014. Also, a rain barrel program will commence right after January 1 as well. More information can be found at www.cityoflavista.org/thompsoncreek and will be in the next CityWise quarterly newsletter. Keep in mind that the first annual La Vista BioBlitz is scheduled for May 16 and May 17, 2014.
- The first set of water quality tests to establish pre-construction conditions has been completed by UNO with assistance from UNL. At least one more set will be taken in the spring prior to construction.
