Civil Service Commission

The La Vista Civil Service Commission consists of five members appointed by the Mayor (with the approval of the City Council) to staggered five year terms. Members must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of the City for at least three years immediately preceding his/her appointment, and a registered voter. No more than three of the five Commissioners can be members of the same political party.

Responsibilities

The Civil Service Commission oversees all aspects of the employment process for full-time police officers including but not limited to testing, hiring, grievance, and discipline. The Commission has established rules and regulations that guide how it carries out its responsibilities and ensure compliance with the Civil Service Act.
