The summer of 2020 is not at all what any of us expected, right? We haven’t been able to host any of the fun, exciting 60th anniversary events we had planned for you and we’re bummed about that!
But, we don’t rest on our laurels and we’re excited to share with you our community engagement plans for the summer, something we’re calling Summer 2.0, or our alternative version.
These are fun, thrilling new ways to celebrate the summer - and bring the community together.
Our plans include four campaigns that we’d love for you to be a part of and one very exciting event we’ve planned for July.
COVID Warriors/Healthcare Heroes
The City of La Vista would like to recognize those in our community who have been working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. New banners have been placed at all the City’s major intersections as a way of saying thank you to all the essential workers in our community. Nominate a friend or loved one and we’ll tell their story here and on our social media accounts. We will give away a gift card each week to a healthcare worker. Launching mid-June.
Summer Scavenger Hunt
Can you find the 60 stickers hidden around La Vista? Multiple stickers are hidden in and around the 26 locations listed below. When you find a sticker, write a short description where you found it under each location (i.e. “on a tree” or “front door” or “on trash can”).
You’ve got all summer to search! Just turn in this sheet by August 31st. Everyone who turns in a checklist will receive a free La Vista t-shirt! Happy hunting!
Community Quilt with porch photos
Get your family picture taken by our photographer by filling out our photo request form. Then, download it at home. All for free! After, we’ll compile all the photos into a large digital quilt and share it with the community! Launching late June.
La Vista Cookbook Website
Explore and share unique, delicious recipes made by La Vistans. Launching July.
Santa’s Summer Sleigh Ride - Saturday, July 18
Santa’s adding a pit stop in La Vista to his summer vacation plans. He’ll parade around town spreading some cheer, and maybe some other surprises, too! In case of rain, this event will take place Saturday, July 25.
